DPS: Faithe Artherholt Among Four Died in Texas Crash

WALKER, TX, (May 16, 2026) – Four people were killed late Saturday night following a head-on collision along State Highway 30 in Walker County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Troopers responded to the crash at approximately 11:40 p.m. west of Wesley Grove Road. Preliminary reports indicate that an eastbound 2019 Jeep Wrangler crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a westbound 2019 Buick SUV.

Authorities identified one of the victims as Faithe Nicole Artherholt, 21, of Leander. Artherholt was a passenger in the Buick SUV and suffered fatal injuries in the collision. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 21-year-old Rockdale man and an unidentified 10-year-old child who were also inside the Buick died in the crash. The 23-year-old driver of the Jeep Wrangler was likewise pronounced deceased at the scene.

Emergency crews remained at the site for several hours as investigators documented evidence and cleared the roadway.

The Texas Department of Public Safety has not yet released additional details regarding the cause of the collision, and the investigation remains ongoing.

HEAD-ON CRASH INVESTIGATION

Head-on crashes are commonly linked to driver-related mistakes. However, these accidents may also result from speeding, distracted driving, impaired driving, poor roadway design, inexperienced drivers, or confusion behind the wheel.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, approximately 40,901 people died in motor vehicle crashes across the United States in 2023, reflecting a 4.3% decrease from 2022 and the second consecutive annual decline.

“Investigators will review factors that may have contributed to the collision, including road conditions, lighting, and visibility,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner with Bond Legal.

“In some cases, accident reconstruction experts are needed to help determine the sequence of events leading up to a crash. These investigative efforts are important in helping victims and families seek compensation for losses after a serious accident,” Bond added.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

As the investigation moves forward, the family of a victim may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim. Relatives of wrongful death victims may seek compensation for emotional distress, pain and suffering, and the loss of companionship following a catastrophic accident.

“The emotional pain and grief after losing a loved one in an accident can be incredibly overwhelming,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal.

“We understand the difficult circumstances families face during these tragic events, and ensuring their rights are protected is extremely important. A wrongful death attorney can monitor the official investigation and help safeguard a family’s legal interests,” Formica added.
