Fairfield County crash injures Faith Irwin, kills two

FAIRFIELD, OH (July 09, 2026) — Two people were killed and another driver was injured Thursday evening in a two-vehicle crash in Fairfield County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred shortly before 7:35 p.m. on Bremen Road SE near Lake Road SE in Berne Township.

Investigators said a 2023 Kia Forte traveling east on Bremen Road veered left of center and collided with a 2015 GMC Acadia driven by Faith E. Irwin, 33, of Bremen.

Irwin was transported to Fairfield Medical Center with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Authorities said the driver of the Kia was also taken to Fairfield Medical Center, where she later died. A 3-year-old child riding in the Kia also died as a result of the crash.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the collision.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

Each year, motor vehicle crashes in this country kill roughly 36,000 people and injure 1.9 million more. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, speeding was the primary cause of fatal crashes in 2018, followed by the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication; failure to stay in the proper lane; failure to yield the right of way; and distracted driving.

“Road conditions, visibility, and lighting are among the many potential contributing factors that investigators carefully evaluate following a serious collision,” said Candice Bond, an experienced attorney and Managing Partner with Bond Legal.

“An accident reconstruction team is sometimes needed to help piece together what happened. All of these resources are necessary for helping clients receive monetary compensation for damages or a loss following a collision,” Bond said.

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Pending the results of the investigation, Faith E. Irwin may have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal, noted that the stress and uncertainty following a serious injury can affect every aspect of a person’s life, including family, employment, finances, and overall well-being.

“It is vital for victims to hire an attorney when filing a personal injury claim, which allows them to negotiate with an insurance company on behalf of a client,” Formica added.

“Insurance companies often try to pressure victims to settle for a quick payout for far less than the case is worth. However, an attorney will vigorously advocate for their client to ensure that they are treated with respect and compensated fairly.”
