AMARILLO, Texas — A 25-year-old driver sustained minor injuries when another vehicle crossed into his lane and struck him head-on Saturday night on FM-1151.
The crash occurred around 10 p.m. approximately four miles southeast of Amarillo in Randall County. A 74-year-old man driving northbound crossed the centerline into the southbound lane where Ezequiel Villarreal was traveling. The vehicles collided head-on in the southbound lane.
Emergency responders pronounced the 74-year-old driver dead at the scene after he was ejected from his vehicle.
Villarreal was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. The safety restraint likely prevented more serious injuries during the violent collision. Paramedics transported him to BSA hospital for treatment of his minor injuries. His condition was stable following the accident.
The Texas Highway Patrol responded to the scene and is conducting the investigation.
