Eva Lowe, Jasmine Spicer die in Piedmont head-on truck collision

PIEDMONT, AL (June 29, 2026) — Two Piedmont women were killed Monday morning in a head-on collision involving a commercial semi-truck on U.S. Highway 278, according to the Piedmont Police Department.

Preliminary findings indicate that a Nissan Rogue traveling eastbound into Piedmont at approximately 5:15 a.m. crossed the center line in the 1700 block of U.S. Highway 278 and collided head-on with a commercial semi-truck.

Authorities identified the victims as Eva Lowe, 55, and Jasmine Spicer, 32, both of Piedmont. Both women were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not released additional details regarding the circumstances surrounding the collision. The Piedmont Police Department continues to investigate.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Head-on collisions are relatively uncommon, accounting for only about 2% of crashes nationwide. However, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), they are among the deadliest crash types, responsible for approximately 28.7% of all traffic fatalities.

Candice Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney, said that in cases such as this, an independent investigation conducted by a skilled attorney is essential to help protect the rights of the victims’ families.

“Time is critical in cases like this, and it is important that all available evidence be preserved and reviewed promptly,” said Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

“An accident reconstruction team is often necessary to determine exactly what occurred. These investigative resources can be vital in helping clients pursue compensation for losses and damages resulting from a collision,” Bond added.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family of Eva Lowe and Jasmine Spicer may be entitled to a wrongful death claim. Family members of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a catastrophic accident such as this incident.

“The stress and sorrow can be extremely overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal.

“We understand the challenges families face after a tragic loss, and protecting their rights is extremely important. A wrongful death lawyer will stay informed about the official investigation and work to ensure that their legal rights and best interests are protected,” Formica said.
