MIDDLE ISLAND, NY (February 15, 2026) — Five people were injured, one seriously, in a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Middle Country Road and Rocky Point Road, Suffolk County Police said.
Investigators said Esther Igbeare of Middle Island was driving a 2025 Kia eastbound when it collided with a southbound 2017 Toyota Corolla. The impact sent the Corolla into a northbound 2023 Chevrolet driven by Steven Fitch of Shoreham.
The driver of the Corolla, a 49-year-old Medford woman, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital. Igbeare and the three occupants of the Chevrolet were also hospitalized with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Detectives from the Seventh Squad impounded the vehicles and are continuing the investigation.
