Espina Bundley dies in Manhattan hit-and-run, NYPD says

FATAL HIT-AND-RUN INVESTIGATION

According to NYPD collision data on NYC Open Data, hit-and-run incidents remain a deadly issue in New York City, involving thousands of pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists annually.

Despite traffic safety initiatives such as Vision Zero, many drivers flee the scene after causing serious injury or death. In 2024, over 5,000 hit-and-run collisions with injuries were reported, including more than 40 fatalities, highlighting the difficulty of holding offenders accountable.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family of Espina Bundley may be entitled to a wrongful death claim, including compensation for funeral costs, loss of companionship, pain, and emotional trauma.
