THURSTON, WA, (May 31, 2026) — A tractor-trailer driver from Oregon was injured Sunday in a crash involving an alleged impaired driver on Interstate 5 in Thurston County, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Investigators said a semi-truck operated by Eric Wong, 38, struck a Chevrolet Trailblazer after the SUV spun out on the Trosper Road on-ramp to northbound I-5 near Tumwater and came to rest in another lane of travel.
The impact caused the tractor-trailer to roll over before coming to rest on its side at the gore point, authorities said.
Wong, a resident of Happy Valley, Oregon, sustained injuries in the collision and was transported to Providence St. Peter Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Chevrolet Trailblazer, identified as Sara M. Colvin, allegedly fled the scene after the crash. Troopers said drugs or alcohol were determined to be a factor in the collision.
Colvin could face hit-and-run and vehicular assault charges as the investigation continues.
