WARD, TX (May 18, 2026) — The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a deadly multi-vehicle crash that claimed two lives Monday morning in Ward County.
According to DPS, the collision occurred around 6:50 a.m. on FM 1233 near milepost 234. Investigators said a commercial tractor-trailer was traveling westbound when an eastbound pickup truck crossed into the westbound lane and struck the left rear portion of the trailer.
Authorities said the pickup then continued forward and collided with a second westbound pickup truck traveling behind the tractor-trailer. The impact sparked a fire that engulfed both pickup trucks.
The driver of the westbound pickup was identified as 40-year-old Enrique Flores III of Crane. Officials pronounced Flores dead at the scene.
The driver of the eastbound pickup also died in the collision, while the tractor-trailer driver was not injured.
The Texas Highway Patrol division in Monahans continues to investigate the fatal crash.
