FARMINGDALE, NY, (August 12, 2026) – Authorities charged a driver following a crash that injured a 2-year-old boy and his mother Wednesday in Farmingdale.
According to the Nassau County Police, the boy went into the road near 416 Conklin Street at about 3:51 p.m., and when the boy’s mother, 28, tried to retrieve him from the road, both were struck by a Peterbilt truck, police said.
Authorities say the Peterbilt failed to stop at the scene.
Both unidentified victims were transported to an area hospital. The boy suffered a leg injury, and his mother suffered injuries to her hip and legs.
The driver of the Peterbilt, Elvin Majano Diaz, 27, of Central Islip, was charged with leaving the scene of an incident with injury.
