Eight injured in I-270 crash St Louis County, MSHP says

ST. LOUIS, MO (March 31, 2026) – Eight people, including several children, were injured Tuesday night in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 270 in St. Louis County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Authorities said a Nissan Altima struck a stopped Mitsubishi Mirage without hazard lights before being hit from behind by a Ford Mustang, causing a chain-reaction crash.

A 4-year-old boy suffered serious injuries, while others sustained minor to moderate injuries and were hospitalized.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

Approximately 2.2 million people were injured in motor vehicle accidents across the country in 2023, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The NHTSA identifies speeding as the primary cause of crashes, followed by impairment, lane violations, failure to yield, and distracted driving.

“It is crucial to determine the exact cause of these crashes,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.
