MYRTLE BEACH, SC (May 17, 2026) — The Myrtle Beach Police Department is investigating a fatal collision involving a passenger vehicle and a moped that occurred Sunday on 48th Avenue North.
According to authorities, officers and emergency responders were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of a crash involving a small motorized scooter.
When patrol officers arrived, they found the moped operator lying on the roadway with life-threatening injuries. Paramedics immediately began emergency treatment at the scene before transporting the victim to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard later identified the victim as 38-year-old Earl Glenn of Myrtle Beach.
Medical personnel pronounced Glenn dead at approximately 8 p.m., officials said.
Police have not released details regarding the vehicle involved in the collision or confirmed whether the driver remained at the scene following the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing.
