FHP: Dylana Andros Seriously Hurt in Pileup DUI Crash in Florida

PASCO, FL, (May 18, 2026) – A multi-vehicle crash on U.S. 19 in Pasco County left 22-year-old Dylana Joli Andros seriously injured and resulted in one fatality, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the collision occurred around 9:30 a.m. Monday just north of Little Road. Investigators determined that a northbound Toyota Camry first rear-ended a Mazda before sideswiping a Ford SUV. The impact forced the Ford across the median into southbound lanes, where it collided head-on with a Hyundai SUV.

Dylana Andros, the driver of the Ford SUV, sustained two severely broken legs and was transported to a hospital for emergency treatment. Her passenger also suffered catastrophic injuries in the crash.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 41-year-old man, was transported to HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The driver of the Mazda was not reported injured.

Witnesses told investigators that the driver of the Toyota Camry stopped briefly before fleeing the scene. Troopers later located the driver approximately 14 miles away in Hernando County, where he reportedly showed signs of heavy impairment and was taken into custody.

The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

DUI ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Impaired driving remains a serious concern on Florida’s roadways, with officials continuing to stress the importance of responsible driving behavior. DUI enforcement is tracked through the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles’ Uniform Traffic Citation system, which helps monitor violations and identify high-risk areas.

Despite ongoing enforcement efforts, alcohol- and drug-related driving continues to contribute to severe and fatal crashes, highlighting the need for continued public awareness, prevention initiatives, and strict legal enforcement.

“Drunken and drugged drivers are subject to criminal charges following an accident or collision that causes harm or kills another person,” explained Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

She added, “Separate from criminal charges, a victim’s family may be entitled to compensation through a civil lawsuit against the responsible party.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

An injured victim may have the right to pursue a personal injury claim pending the outcome of an investigation.

Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal, said, “Injured victims involved in a collision often seek a personal injury claim to cover the cost of medical bills, future medical care, loss of income, emotional trauma, and pain and suffering.”

“Insurance companies can be notoriously unconcerned with the mounting costs that an injured party may accrue. An attorney can help. We protect the victims of these tragedies daily, forcing the insurance companies to pay for their mistakes,” he added.
