ALEA: Dwight Page dies in Colbert County accident on Alabama 20

COLBERT, AL, (April 19, 2026) – A two-vehicle crash Sunday night in Colbert County claimed the life of a Leighton man and left two children injured, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).

The crash occurred around 9:55 p.m. on Alabama 20 near milepost 32. Authorities reported that a 2025 Jeep Wrangler collided with a 2013 Nissan Altima under circumstances that remain under investigation.

Dwight D. Page Jr., 46, of Leighton, was driving the Nissan and sustained critical injuries in the crash. He was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Two children, ages five years and five months, who were passengers in the Jeep, were injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the Jeep was not injured.

The ALEA Highway Patrol Division continues to investigate the cause of the collision.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

A variety of factors contribute to the rise in traffic fatalities, with driver behavior playing a central role—such as speeding, impaired driving, and distracted driving, particularly from cellphone use. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that 8,055 people were killed in motor vehicle crashes during the first quarter of 2025.

As investigators work to determine the cause and liability in this case, Candice Bond, an experienced accident attorney and Managing Partner of Bond Legal, stressed the importance of a thorough, independent investigation.

“Alongside the efforts of law enforcement, an attorney can revisit key witness statements, review available surveillance footage, and secure phone and texting records from the responsible party,” said Bond, a national analyst for Accident Injury News.

“Acting quickly is critical in cases like this, and the victim’s family must ensure that all evidence is examined in a timely manner.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the results of the investigation, the family of Dwight Page may be eligible to pursue a wrongful death claim. Loved ones of wrongful death victims may seek compensation for loss of companionship, emotional distress, and pain and suffering following a tragic incident.

“The emotional and financial burden after losing a loved one in a crash can be overwhelming,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal.

“We understand the challenges families face during such times, and protecting their legal rights is essential. A wrongful death attorney can monitor the investigation and help ensure the family’s best interests are represented throughout the process.”
