COLUMBIA, MO, (June 28, 2026) — A Columbia man was arrested early Sunday after allegedly fleeing the scene of a crash that injured three people, according to the Columbia Police Department.
CPD said a white SUV struck a vehicle from behind at the intersection of Broadway and Eighth Street at around 1:11 a.m. The driver briefly stopped, checked on the occupants, and then drove away.
The driver and two passengers reported head, neck, and back pain. One passenger was transported to University Hospital.
Aaron Monroe Jr., 25, was located nearby. Officers noted bloodshot eyes and the odor of alcohol. A breath analysis test indicated a blood alcohol content of 0.157%.
Monroe was charged with felony leaving the scene of an accident involving physical injury and felony DWI involving physical injury. He was held in the Boone County Jail.
The Columbia Police Department is investigating.
