DWI CRASH INVESTIGATION
According to the Texas Department of Transportation, approximately 950 people die and more than 2,100 suffer serious injuries each year in DWI-related crashes statewide.
A person is killed every nine hours and six minutes in a DUI-alcohol-related wreck. Impaired drivers often experience reduced coordination, hindered judgment, delayed reaction times, and poor visibility. Attorney Candice Bond, an experienced DUI accident lawyer, shared insights on cases like this.
“Separate from the criminal case, a victim’s family may have the right to pursue compensation through a civil action,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal. “Alongside law enforcement efforts, an attorney can re-interview witnesses, review surveillance footage, and obtain phone and text records of the at-fault driver. Serving as an advocate, an attorney works to protect a family’s rights and ensure that a drunk driver is held accountable for their reckless actions.”
WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM
The family of the victim killed in this accident may be eligible to file a wrongful death claim. Families can seek compensation for loss of companionship, emotional suffering, and other damages following a catastrophic incident.
“We recognize the tremendous hardship families endure after such a loss, and safeguarding their rights is essential,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal. “A wrongful death attorney will monitor the investigation and work to ensure the family’s best interests are protected. Loved ones of wrongful death victims may be entitled to damages for pain and suffering, emotional distress, and loss of companionship.”
In addition, the injured victims may also have grounds to pursue a personal injury claim.
