Driver Mohammed Siagha Hits, Kills Man in East Islip Pedestrian Crash

EAST ISLIP, NY, (October 16, 2025) – A man was tragically killed Thursday evening following a pedestrian accident in East Islip, Long Island.

Authorities say Mohammed Siagha, 60, of Central Islip, was driving a Jeep SUV east on Union Boulevard when it struck a male pedestrian at the intersection of Union Boulevard and Irish Lane in Suffolk County.

The crash occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m.

The pedestrian, whose identity has not yet been released, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries.

FATAL PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

According to Walk Safe Long Island, pedestrian accidents remain a major safety concern on Long Island, which continues to experience disproportionately high pedestrian fatality rates compared to other regions of New York.

Covering the decade ending in 2023, more than 2,100 lives were lost in traffic crashes across Long Island.

“Having the proper resources is extremely important to investigate a pedestrian accident case and prove negligence,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal and an experienced pedestrian accident attorney.

“Road conditions, signage visibility, and road lighting are all possible contributing factors that must be thoroughly examined. These steps are vital to ensure that families who have lost a loved one receive the justice they deserve.”

Additionally, data from the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) shows that pedestrian fatalities in the U.S. have risen significantly faster than other traffic deaths. An estimated 6,590 pedestrian deaths occurred in 2019, marking the highest total in more than three decades.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

The family of the victim may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim.

“It is almost always a driver’s duty to yield to any pedestrian,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel at Bond Legal and a national analyst for Accident Injury News.

“Family members of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of income, companionship, pain and suffering, funeral expenses, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident.”

Serving as a compassionate advocate, an attorney can help guide families through this difficult time while protecting their legal rights.

“Insurance companies often try to pressure victims’ families into quick settlements for far less than the case is worth,” added Bond. “However, an attorney will vigorously advocate for their clients to ensure they are treated with respect and fairly compensated.”
