RANDOLPH, NC (April 02, 2026) – Authorities are searching for a suspect following a serious pedestrian hit-and-run crash early Thursday morning in Randolph County.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, 34-year-old Daniel Lee Hutchens was struck while walking in the westbound lanes of U.S. 64 near Vista Parkway shortly after 4 a.m. The driver fled the scene immediately after the collision.
Hutchens sustained serious injuries and was transported to Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Investigators said debris collected at the scene suggests the suspect vehicle is white and likely sustained front-end damage. Troopers are actively searching for a vehicle matching that description.
No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is urged to contact authorities.
