CLEVELAND, OH, (April 19, 2026) – A 74-year-old woman was killed early Sunday in a hit-and-run crash in Cleveland, according to police.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Donna Godly. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary findings indicate that a Maple Heights woman was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee when she ran a red light at the intersection of Lee Road and Miles Avenue shortly after 1 a.m. The vehicle struck Godly as she was crossing the street.
After the impact, the SUV veered off the roadway and crashed into a concrete staircase and metal railing. Authorities said the driver fled the scene despite the vehicle losing a tire.
Police later located and arrested the suspect, who now faces multiple charges, including aggravated vehicular homicide and failure to stop after an accident causing death.
The investigation remains ongoing.
