Dominique Williams Killed After Audi Hits COTA Bus in Columbus

COLUMBUS, OH (June 27, 2026) — A two-vehicle collision involving a COTA bus and an Audi SUV early Saturday morning in Columbus claimed the lives of two people, including 33-year-old Dominique Williams, according to police.

The crash occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of Sunbury Road and Mock Road on the city’s northeast side.

Investigators said a COTA bus was traveling westbound on Mock Road and making a left turn onto Sunbury Road with a green traffic signal when it was struck by an Audi Q5 traveling southbound on Sunbury Road.

Dominique Williams, a passenger in the Audi, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Audi also died from injuries sustained in the collision.

The COTA bus driver was transported by emergency medical personnel to Grant Medical Center and was reported to be in stable condition.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the collision to contact the Columbus Police Accident Investigation Unit at 614-461-TIPS (8477) or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at the same number.

Tragically, approximately 36,000 people lose their lives in motor vehicle crashes across the United States each year.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, speeding was the leading cause of fatal crashes in 2018, followed by alcohol, drugs or medication impairment, failure to remain in the proper lane, failure to yield the right of way, and distracted driving.

Candice Bond, an experienced accident attorney, said collisions like this can result from a variety of factors, including inexperienced drivers, failure to follow traffic laws, reckless driving, unfamiliar roadways, and impaired driving.

“Every collision has unique circumstances and deserves a thorough investigation. Acting quickly is important so that evidence can be preserved and carefully reviewed,” said Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal and a national analyst for Accident Injury News.

“In addition to examining the police report, an attorney will evaluate all factors that may have contributed to the collision,” Bond added.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the investigation, the family of Dominique Williams may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. Surviving family members may seek compensation for the loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress resulting from a tragic accident.

“The emotional pain and grief following the loss of a loved one in a traffic collision can be overwhelming,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal.

“We understand the challenges families face during these difficult times, and protecting their legal rights is essential. A wrongful death attorney can monitor the official investigation and help ensure that the family’s best interests remain protected,” Formica added.
