ZANESVILLE, Ohio — A two-vehicle head-on accident on Interstate 70 near milepost 155 left one man dead and others injured early on June 22.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that Derek Lydelle, 38, of McConnelsville, drove a GMC Yukon west in the eastbound lanes around 1:30 a.m. His vehicle subsequently collided head-on with a Peterbilt tractor-trailer driven by a 42-year-old Maryland man traveling through a construction zone.
Both vehicles caught fire after impact. Emergency crews pronounced Lydelle dead at the scene.
Three juveniles riding with Lydelle escaped the burning vehicle and were transported to Genesis Hospital with serious injuries.
OSHP continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
