Authorities said a passenger in the pickup, 20-year-old Denise Andrade of Georgia, died from injuries sustained in the crash.

The 19-year-old driver of the pickup also suffered fatal injuries.

The incident remains under investigation.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), an estimated 1,061 people were killed in motor vehicle crashes in Tennessee in 2025.

The NHTSA reports that speeding is the leading cause of fatal crashes, followed by impairment due to alcohol, drugs, or medication; failure to maintain lane position; failure to yield the right of way; and distracted driving.

“Road conditions, visibility, and lighting are among the factors that must be carefully reviewed,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

“It is crucial to determine the precise cause of these types of accidents. An attorney has the resources to review insurance coverage, hire expert witnesses, conduct background checks, and identify witnesses. We guide the family of the victim through the process,” added Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney and a national legal analyst for Accident Injury News.

“In some cases, an accident reconstruction team is required to piece together what occurred. These resources are essential in helping clients pursue compensation for damages or losses following a collision.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the investigation, the family of Denise Andrade may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim. Families of victims in such cases can seek damages for loss of companionship, emotional distress, and pain and suffering after a tragic accident.

“The grief and emotional burden following the loss of a loved one can be overwhelming,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal.

“We understand what families endure during such difficult times, and protecting their legal rights is essential. A wrongful death attorney will monitor the investigation and help ensure that the family’s rights and best interests are fully represented.”
