HEFLIN, Ala. — Authorities are investigating a fatal accident involving a tractor-trailer and a van that occurred on April 30.
The accident happened at around 12:55 p.m. on Interstate 20 near Alabama 9. A 2008 Ford Econoline van traveling west struck a 2020 Kenworth tractor-trailer. The impact caused severe damage to the van.
Demetrius McGhee, 38, was identified as the victim. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 55-year-old man from Camden, was not injured.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
