FREMONT COUNTY, Iowa — Authorities are investigating a fatal accident involving a pedestrian and a tractor-trailer on May 3. The Iowa State Patrol responded to the scene on northbound Interstate 29 near milepost one.
Troopers said a 63-year-old male was driving a 2024 Freightliner Cascadia northbound when a pedestrian entered the roadway for unknown reasons. The truck hit the pedestrian in the travel portion of the interstate.
Emergency responders pronounced David McClean, 46, dead at the scene. The truck driver was uninjured.
The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office and Hamburg Fire Department assisted at the scene. Officials urge anyone with information to contact law enforcement as the investigation continues.
