CLEBURNE COUNTY, Ala. — A three-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 claimed the life of a woman and injured a passenger early Sunday morning.
At around 7:23 a.m., a 2024 Buick Encore driven by a 74-year-old Summerville, South Carolina woman collided with a 2019 Land Rover Discovery operated by a 65-year-old Covington, Georgia man near milepost 207. The location is about two miles east of Heflin.
Following the initial collision, a 2024 Volvo tractor-trailer operated by a 36-year-old Roanoke, Virginia man, struck the Buick.
The woman driver was pronounced dead at the scene. David Clark, age 62, of Carrollton, Georgia, was a passenger in the Buick. He suffered unspecified injuries and was transported to Tanner Medical Center for treatment.
No other injuries were reported.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division continues investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
