From 2009 through 2016, the percentage of hit-and-run pedestrian crashes in Detroit was as high as 46%, compared to 18% nationwide, according to the Governors Highway Safety Association. This means Detroit’s hit-and-run rate for pedestrian crashes was more than double the national average.
