BALDWIN TOWNSHIP, WI (May 28, 2026) — A 57-year-old Baldwin man lost his life following a motorcycle crash involving a passenger vehicle Thursday afternoon in Baldwin Township, according to the sheriff’s office.
Authorities said the collision occurred at approximately 4:45 p.m. on 90th Avenue. A 16-year-old Baldwin resident was driving a Pontiac Vibe eastbound and attempting to make a left turn when the vehicle entered the path of an oncoming motorcycle traveling westbound.
The motorcycle was operated by Darin Ofstie, who suffered critical injuries in the collision. Emergency responders arranged for Ofstie to be airlifted to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota, for advanced medical treatment.
Despite lifesaving efforts, Ofstie later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The teenage driver of the Pontiac was treated at the scene for minor injuries. No additional information regarding contributing factors or potential citations has been released.
The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
