CAMERON, LA, (May 21, 2026) – A 71-year-old Westlake man died Thursday evening in a five-vehicle collision on Louisiana Highway 27 in Cameron Parish, according to Louisiana State Police.
Investigators said the crash occurred shortly after 6 p.m. near the intersection of Louisiana Highway 27 and Louisiana Highway 384. Authorities reported that a northbound 2016 Ford F-750 truck failed to slow for traffic and struck the rear of a 1998 Ford Ranger.
The impact led to a chain-reaction collision involving three additional northbound vehicles, including a 2023 Ford F-150, a 2012 Ford F-150, and a 2021 Chrysler 300.
Officials identified the driver of the Ford Ranger as Danny Hillebrandt of Westlake. Hillebrandt died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.
Several other individuals involved in the collision were transported to hospitals with injuries that were not specified by authorities.
Louisiana State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
