DANIA BEACH, FL, (July 04, 2026) – Oleksii Maksymov was killed in a crash allegedly caused by a drunk driver on Friday in Dania Beach.
According to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, Maksymov was riding as a passenger in a 2020 BMW M8 driven by 38-year-old Vladimir Mushenko, who was allegedly speeding in the 200 block of East Dania Beach Boulevard at approximately 6 p.m. when he struck a curb, overcorrected, and lost control of the vehicle.
The BMW then slid sideways across a curbed median and crossed into the westbound lanes, where it collided head-on with a 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLS. Maksymov was pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger in the BMW sustained injuries in the crash. The driver of the Mercedes and her four passengers were transported to Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment.
Mushenko was also taken to the hospital, where testing showed his blood alcohol content was .197%, more than double Florida’s legal limit of 0.08%. He now faces 22 charges, including vehicular homicide, DUI causing death, and reckless driving causing damage to person or property.
