Danette Hill Died After Lexus, Subaru Collide in Billings MT

BILLINGS, MT — June 1, 2026 — A 67-year-old Billings woman died Monday evening following a two-vehicle collision at a city intersection, according to the Billings Police Department and the Yellowstone County Coroner’s Office.

The crash occurred at approximately 6:16 p.m. at the intersection of 36th Street West and Monad Road, when a Lexus GX460 and a Subaru Outback collided, police said. The driver of the Lexus, identified by the Yellowstone County Coroner’s Office as Danette Jane Hill of Billings, died as a result of injuries sustained in the wreck.

A second individual involved in the collision was transported to a local hospital with unspecified injuries. Their current condition has not been disclosed by authorities.

The Billings Police Department said its investigation into the crash remains ongoing. No additional details regarding the circumstances of the collision have been released.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that 36,640 people died in traffic crashes across the country in 2025, with 199 of those fatalities occurring in the state of Montana.

“Contributing factors to be examined include road conditions, visibility, and lighting,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner with Bond Legal.

“It is imperative to come to a determination of the exact cause of these types of accidents. An attorney has the resources to review applicable insurance coverage, hire expert witnesses, run background checks, and locate witnesses. We carefully guide the family of the victim through the process,” added Bond, a national legal analyst with The Legal Analyst.

“An accident reconstruction team is sometimes needed to help piece together what happened. All of these resources are necessary for helping clients receive monetary compensation for damages or a loss following a collision,” said Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation, the family of Danette Hill may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim. Surviving family members of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a devastating accident such as this.

“The stress and sorrow can be extremely overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel at Bond Legal.

“We understand just what families must go through, and having their rights protected is vital. A wrongful death lawyer will stay updated on the official investigation and help ensure that their legal rights and best interests are protected.”

“An attorney can protect victims from large insurance companies and their team of lawyers while diligently examining the facts of the accident. An attorney will vigorously advocate for a family who has lost a loved one, ensuring that their legal rights are protected.”
