DALLAS, TX, (May 27, 2026) – Dallas police arrested Robert Watson, 53, Wednesday in connection with an alleged DUI crash that resulted in the death of a pedestrian along Interstate 635.
According to authorities, officers responded shortly after midnight to the eastbound lanes of Interstate 635 at the southbound Dallas North Tollway after receiving reports of a serious collision involving a disabled vehicle and a tow truck.
Investigators said a vehicle driven by Watson allegedly struck a disabled car that was being loaded onto a flatbed tow truck. Police said the impact caused Watson’s vehicle to partially drive onto the flatbed before striking a pedestrian standing nearby and overturning.
Emergency responders transported the victim to a local hospital, where the pedestrian later died from injuries sustained in the crash. Authorities have not yet publicly released the victim’s identity.
Police reported that Watson allegedly showed signs of intoxication, including slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, and a strong odor of alcohol. An arrest affidavit states that Watson allegedly admitted to consuming one and a half beers several hours before the crash.
Watson was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter. The Dallas Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
