DALLAS, TX, (March 30, 2026) — A 42-year-old man, Juan Francisco Barreto, was killed Monday night in a pedestrian crash in Dallas, according to police.
Authorities said Barreto was struck by a Honda driven by a 20-year-old at approximately 10 p.m. in the 2900 block of Fort Worth Avenue near Hartsdale Drive.
Barreto was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver remained at the location, and the crash remains under investigation.
Pedestrian fatalities in Texas have increased significantly, rising by 22 percent between 2019 and 2023.
In 2023, there were 5,924 pedestrian-related crashes in Texas, resulting in 808 deaths and 1,457 serious injuries.
