Dale Rose II killed in Orange pedestrian collision on MacArthur Dr

ORANGE, TX, (April 23, 2026) – A 59-year-old Bulverde man was killed Thursday morning in a pedestrian crash in Orange, according to local police.

Authorities identified the victim as Dale Rose II. The crash occurred at approximately 5:52 a.m. in the 1900 block of MacArthur Drive.

Investigators said Rose was walking eastbound along the roadway between AutoZone and Lion’s Den Park when he was struck by a vehicle under circumstances that remain under review.

Rose was pronounced dead at the scene from his injuries.

The incident remains under investigation by Orange police.

FATAL PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Authorities are investigating the crash, another tragic example of the risks faced by pedestrians traveling on roadways.

According to the Texas Department of Transportation, 5,975 pedestrian-involved traffic crashes occurred in Texas in 2019, resulting in 669 deaths, a 5% increase from the previous year.

“Road conditions, visibility, and lighting are all factors that must be carefully reviewed in cases like this,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner with Bond Legal and a national analyst for Accident Injury News. “In many cases, an accident reconstruction team may be required to help determine exactly how the crash occurred. These investigative tools are essential in helping families pursue compensation for their losses.”

Data from the Governors Highway Safety Association shows pedestrian fatalities have increased at a rate far exceeding other traffic deaths nationwide. An estimated 6,590 pedestrian deaths occurred in 2019, the highest in over 30 years, while an additional 150,000 pedestrians were injured in 2018, according to the National Safety Council.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

The family of Dale Rose II may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim for damages including loss of companionship, funeral expenses, emotional trauma, and pain and suffering.

“It is almost always a driver’s duty to yield to pedestrians,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal. “An attorney can guide families through the legal process while protecting their rights during this difficult time.”

Formica added, “Insurance companies often attempt to encourage quick settlements for far less than the true value of a case. An attorney will advocate on behalf of the family to ensure fair treatment and proper compensation.”
