Police: Crystal Lynn dies after being hit on Lessman Street

CULLMAN, AL, (Nov. 22, 2025) — A Cullman woman identified as Crystal Lynn Brooks died Saturday following a vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash in Cullman County. According to the Cullman Police Department, Lynn was walking along Lessman Street SW near Veigl Avenue when she was struck by a vehicle.

She was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. No additional details regarding the driver or circumstances of the crash have been released as the investigation continues.

FATAL PEDESTRIAN CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

The Cullman Police Department’s Traffic Homicide Unit continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. As part of the process, officials will work to determine what led the driver to strike Lynn along the roadway.

Various factors can play a role in fatal pedestrian collisions, including distracted driving, speeding, failure to yield, and other forms of negligent driving behavior. Tragically, pedestrians remain among the most vulnerable road users, and Lynn has become the latest victim in a troubling nationwide trend.

Statistics show that, on average, a pedestrian is killed every two hours and one is injured every eight minutes on U.S. roadways.

Candice Bond, an experienced pedestrian accident attorney, emphasized the importance of conducting an independent investigation in cases like this.

“Having the proper resources is extremely important in order to investigate a pedestrian accident case and prove negligence,” said Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal and national analyst for Accident Injury News. “Road conditions, lighting, and signage visibility are all potential contributing factors that must be carefully reviewed. These steps help ensure that families who have lost a loved one can pursue the justice they deserve. It is nearly always a driver’s responsibility to yield to a pedestrian.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the results of the investigation, the family of Crystal Lynn may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim. Surviving family members can seek compensation for loss of companionship, emotional suffering, and other damages stemming from a tragic incident such as this.

“Motorists are required to yield to pedestrians in both marked and unmarked crosswalks,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel at Bond Legal. “Drivers should also use appropriate lighting to better detect pedestrians near the roadway. The grief and hardship families experience after losing a loved one can be overwhelming. Ensuring their rights are protected is essential, and a wrongful death attorney can help them remain informed throughout the investigation while safeguarding their best interests.”
