JACKSON, MO (April 03, 2026) – A two-vehicle crash Friday evening in Jackson County left two people seriously injured, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Authorities said a Honda Accord traveling westbound failed to yield at a stop sign and collided with a northbound GMC Sonoma at Buckner Tarsney Road and Truman Road around 6:36 p.m.
The 85-year-old driver of the GMC was seriously injured and transported to Centerpoint Medical Center. The Honda driver was also hospitalized.
According to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), nearly 40 percent of vehicle crashes occur at or near intersections, often due to failure to obey traffic signals or signs. Common causes include impatience, reckless behavior, and distracted driving.
