MILLCREEK TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is reviewing a deadly single-car accident that happened June 23 on U.S. Route 127.
A 20-year-old man lost control of a passenger vehicle near milepost 17 at around 1 a.m. and struck a pole before overturning off the roadway. Troopers said both the driver and passenger were ejected from the vehicle during the rollover and had not worn seat belts.
Courtney Ames, 19, was the passenger and suffered serious injuries in the accident.
A medical helicopter transported Ames to a hospital for emergency treatment. Officials have not updated her condition. Authorities pronounced the driver dead at the scene. Troopers believe alcohol and speed contributed to the accident.
