COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Police are investigating a three-vehicle head-on accident involving a red Ford pickup that caused critical injuries.
The crash occurred around 6 p.m. in the 5000 block of Holleman Drive S near Graham Road, College Station police reported.
Authorities said 22-year-old Cody Morgan of Centerville drove the pickup truck through a stop sign before hitting a Chevrolet Sonic and then crashing head-on into a Toyota RAV4.
Police linked Morgan to an earlier firearm incident at a student housing complex on Jones Butler Road. Witnesses saw a man shoot into the ground before fleeing in a red truck.
The 27-year-old woman driving the RAV4 suffered critical injuries. Medics flew her to a trauma hospital for emergency treatment.
Investigators said Morgan tried to leave the scene but was detained. Officers found open alcohol containers in his truck.
Morgan faces several charges, including Intoxication Assault with a Vehicle Causing Serious Bodily Injury, Reckless Driving, and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon. Officials said Morgan has five previous arrests in Brazos County for DWI, public intoxication, and driving without insurance.
The department is still gathering evidence and reviewing witness reports. Charges may be updated as the case develops.
No other injuries were reported. Police have not released the identities of the other drivers.
