Cody Monroe Williams dies in Anderson Harley DUI collision: SCHP

ANDERSON, SC, (April 22, 2026) – A 33-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash involving an alleged impaired driver Wednesday evening in Anderson County, according to authorities.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that Cody Monroe Williams was operating a Harley-Davidson motorcycle at approximately 6:15 p.m. when it was struck by a Honda CR-V at the intersection of Broadway School Road and Cox Lane.

Williams was transported to AnMed Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the collision.

Officials identified the driver of the Honda as Bre-anna Allese Bigby, who has been charged with felony DUI involving death. Bigby was booked into the Anderson County Detention Center and denied bond.

The crash remains under investigation.

FATAL DUI CRASH INVESTIGATION

Drinking and driving is a life-or-death decision: Nearly half of all fatal crashes in South Carolina involve an impaired driver, according to the state’s Department of Public Safety.

More than 16,000 DUI arrests were recorded in South Carolina last year. Impaired drivers often experience reduced judgment, blurred vision, slowed reaction time, and decreased coordination.

Candice Bond, an experienced DUI accident attorney, shared insight on incidents like these.

“Separate from any criminal proceedings, a victim’s family may have the right to pursue compensation through a civil claim against the responsible party,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal. “Alongside the work of law enforcement, an attorney can re-examine witnesses, review surveillance footage from the crash site, and obtain phone and text records of the liable party. Acting as an advocate, an attorney helps guide families through a difficult period while protecting their rights and ensuring accountability for reckless behavior.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

The family members of Cody Monroe Williams may have the right to file a wrongful death claim. Families who lose loved ones in such tragic incidents may pursue compensation for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.

“We understand the immense challenges families face after such a loss, and protecting their rights is crucial,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal. “A wrongful death attorney will follow the official investigation closely and help ensure the family’s best interests are represented. Relatives of victims are entitled to seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic accident.”
