MSHP: Clarence man injured, pickup hit in Adair County on U.S. 63

ADAIR, MO, (April 20, 2026) – Two people were seriously injured Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision near Kirksville in Adair County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP).

Authorities said the crash occurred at approximately 2:48 p.m. on U.S. Route 63. A 2013 Chevrolet Equinox traveling eastbound failed to yield and collided with a southbound 2007 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck.

The 42-year-old driver of the pickup, a man from Clarence, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Northeast Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The driver of the Equinox, a 61-year-old individual, was also injured and taken to the same hospital.

The crash remains under investigation by the MSHP.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

When a motorist has the right-of-way, other drivers are required to yield, ensuring safe movement through intersections.

According to Candice Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney, crashes involving failure to yield are frequently caused by driver error. Other contributing factors may include impatience, reckless behavior, and distracted driving. Statistics show that about 40 percent of vehicle collisions occur at intersections.

“It is essential to determine the exact cause of these types of accidents,” said Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

“An attorney can access critical resources such as reviewing insurance policies, hiring expert witnesses, conducting background checks, and identifying witnesses. We help guide victims and their families throughout the legal process.”

“In addition to examining the police report, a lawyer will evaluate all potential contributing factors,” Bond added. “With the ability to bring in experts and analyze evidence, attorneys can advocate effectively while helping injury victims navigate a complex system.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

The victim may have the right to pursue a personal injury claim pending the outcome of the investigation.

Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal, stated, “Victims injured in collisions often file personal injury claims to recover damages for medical expenses, future treatment, lost wages, emotional distress, and pain and suffering.”

“Insurance companies are often unconcerned with the growing financial strain on injured individuals. An attorney can provide critical support. We represent victims daily, ensuring insurance companies are held accountable for their actions,” he added.
