HIGH POINT, N.C. — High Point police are investigating a fatal accident involving a pedestrian and a train that occurred June 29 in the eastern part of the city.
Chrystal Tanksley, 40, of High Point, was struck by a train around 7:45 a.m. near Brentwood Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
Officers found Tanksley alive but critically injured beside the tracks when they arrived at the scene.
Paramedics took her to a local hospital, where she died later from her injuries, according to police officials.
Detectives are reviewing the circumstances and have not yet determined whether the incident was accidental or intentional.
