Christopher Fasching injured in Howard Lake pedestrian accident

HOWARD LAKE, Minn. — A Shakopee man suffered injuries Tuesday when a pickup struck him on U.S. Highway 12.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported the accident occurred just before 1:30 p.m. at the intersection with 10th Avenue in Howard Lake. Christopher Fasching, age 27, of Shakopee was a passenger in an eastbound pickup that had stopped for unknown reasons.

When Fasching exited the vehicle, a westbound pickup driven by a 33-year-old Cokato man struck him. The driver was not injured in the collision.

Fasching was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The State Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the accident.

PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

The statistics are staggering: Approximately 6,227 pedestrians died in the U.S. in 2018, and even more injured, an increase of 250 from a year earlier, according to the Governors Highway Safety Association.

This incident underscores the dangers that pedestrians face every day in this country. The cause of many of these accidents is negligent driving, distracted driving, or drivers failing to yield to pedestrians.

“Having the proper resources is extremely important to investigate a pedestrian accident case and prove negligence,” said Candice Bond, an experienced pedestrian accident attorney and a Managing Partner with Bond Legal.

“An examination of road conditions, signage visibility, and road lighting is crucial. These procedures are necessary for helping those who have lost a loved one receive the justice that they deserve.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Christopher Fasching may have the right to pursue a personal injury claim pending an investigation.

Bond said, “Injured victims involved in a collision often seek a personal injury claim to cover the cost of medical bills, future medical care, loss of income, emotional trauma, and pain and suffering.

“Insurance companies can be notoriously unconcerned with the mounting costs that an injured party may accrue. An attorney can help. We protect the victims of these tragedies daily, forcing the insurance companies to pay for their mistakes,” she added.
