WESTMORELAND, NY, (April 21, 2026) – A 65-year-old motorcyclist was critically injured Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Westmoreland, according to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.
The collision occurred shortly before 11 a.m. on Route 233 when a southbound Chevrolet Cruze turned into the path of a northbound Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by Christopher Cefalia.
Authorities said the motorcycle struck the side door of the sedan, ejecting Cefalia from the bike and causing severe injuries to his head and body.
Emergency responders rendered aid at the scene before Cefalia was airlifted to SUNY Upstate Medical University Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Deputies confirmed that Cefalia was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Chevrolet, a 45-year-old woman from Rome, was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. A passenger in her vehicle was not injured.
No charges have been filed as the investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
