Police: Chester Green held after stroller dragged in hit-and-run

SAN BERNARDINO, CA, (December 01, 2025) – A toddler and an infant were critically injured in a hit-and-run crash on Dec. 1 in San Bernardino. Police said the children were walking with their mother, Karina Barrientos, when they were struck by a gray vehicle while crossing Arrowhead Avenue at 27th Street. The driver, identified as 27-year-old Chester Lamont Green, allegedly hit the stroller the children were in and dragged it down the block.

Green fled but was arrested Friday morning. He now faces charges of felony hit-and-run and reckless driving. The children remain hospitalized with serious injuries.

HIT-AND-RUN CRASH INVESTIGATION

Drivers may flee crash scenes for reasons including panic, fear of legal consequences, intoxication, lacking a license or insurance, warrants, distraction, or operating a stolen vehicle.

Regardless of the cause, leaving the scene of a crash is illegal. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), more than 4 million people were involved in hit-and-runs from 2018 to 2022, with over 12,000 of those incidents resulting in fatalities.

Candice Bond, an experienced hit-and-run attorney, emphasized that independent investigations are essential in cases like this to safeguard a victim’s rights.

“Having the proper resources is crucial to investigating a hit-and-run accident case and proving negligence,” said Bond, a Managing Partner of Bond Legal and a national analyst with Accident Injury News. “Road conditions, lighting, and signage visibility must all be evaluated. These investigative steps are vital in helping victims and families pursue the justice and compensation they deserve.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

The children injured in this incident may have grounds to pursue a personal injury claim. Personal injury attorney Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal, noted that the emotional and financial stress following a severe injury can impact every aspect of a victim’s life, including family, work, and long-term well-being.

“While no financial recovery can undo the trauma of such an event, it is important for victims to understand their legal rights and the compensation available to them,” Bond said. “The injured victims in this collision may be entitled to pursue an injury claim, seeking damages for medical costs, long-term treatment needs, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.”
