BILLINGS, MT, (September 24, 2026) – Chase Lantz, a 13-year-old Billings middle school student, was seriously injured Thursday morning after being struck by a car while walking in a crosswalk.
Authorities said the seventh-grader at Will James Middle School was walking inside a crosswalk at about 7:30 a.m. near the intersection of Grand Avenue and Rehberg Lane when he was hit.
Chase was flown to a hospital in Denver. His family said he suffered a traumatic brain injury, a broken femur, pelvis and tailbone, as well as other head and spinal injuries.
The family said Chase dreamed of becoming a New York City police officer because he wanted to save lives. They are honoring his wishes by donating his organs to people in need.
A GoFundMe account has been established to help Chase’s family.
