CHARLESTON, WV, (May 20, 2026) – A Charleston woman was killed Wednesday morning after being struck by a tractor-trailer on the West Virginia Turnpike, according to West Virginia State Police.
Authorities identified the victim as 54-year-old Denise West of Charleston.
Investigators said West was hit at approximately 6:45 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 77 near the MacCorkle Avenue exit.
West suffered fatal injuries in the collision and was pronounced dead following the incident.
Officials have not yet released additional details regarding the circumstances leading up to the crash.
The incident remains under investigation by West Virginia State Police.
