OSHP: Charles Litten hurt in Coshocton County Head-On collision

COSHOCTON, OH, (March 27, 2026) – A 76-year-old man was injured Friday morning in a head-on collision in Coshocton County that left another driver dead, authorities said.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Charles W. Litten, of Warsaw, was driving a 2016 Chevy Silverado eastbound on U.S. 36 near milepost 12 when a westbound 2005 Saturn Ion crossed left of center and struck his vehicle at approximately 6:14 a.m.

The impact forced the Chevy off the right side of the roadway. Litten sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Coshocton Genesis Medical Center.

The driver of the Saturn, a 41-year-old Warsaw man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.

HEAD-ON ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION NEEDED

The circumstances surrounding the accident are currently being examined by the Zanesville post of the OSHP.

Head-on collisions are among the most dangerous types of crashes on roadways, and as seen in this case, they often lead to severe or fatal outcomes. While they account for only about 2% of crashes in the United States, they are responsible for more than 10% of all traffic-related deaths.

According to Candice Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney, several factors may contribute to a head-on crash, including driver error, distracted driving, fatigue, speeding, and roadway design. However, impaired driving remains the leading cause of these types of collisions.

“Safe driving is a responsibility shared by all. When traffic laws are violated and result in harm, those responsible must be held accountable,” said Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

“An attorney has the resources to retain expert witnesses, review driver histories, locate witnesses, and examine insurance coverage. Acting as an advocate, a lawyer can guide families through a difficult time while protecting their legal rights,” added Bond, a national legal analyst for Accident Injury News.

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Charles W. Litten may have the right to pursue a personal injury claim, pending the outcome of the investigation.

“Injured victims involved in collisions often seek compensation for medical expenses, future care, lost income, emotional distress, and pain and suffering,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel at Bond Legal.

“It is important for victims to retain an attorney when filing a personal injury claim so they can effectively negotiate with insurance companies,” he added.

“Insurance companies frequently attempt to settle claims quickly for far less than their true value. An attorney will advocate strongly to ensure fair treatment and proper compensation,” Formica said.
