RONDA, N.C. — The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal dirt bike crash that happened June 28 in Wilkes County.
Troopers responded at around 4:50 p.m. to Ruritan Road near Ruritan Club Road following reports of a serious crash.
Charles Blevins, 32, of Roaring River, was riding a 2014 Suzuki dirt bike northbound when he lost control and collided with another bike. Authorities said both riders were traveling in the same direction when the crash occurred.
Personnel pronounced Blevins dead at the scene. Officials confirmed he was not wearing a helmet during the ride. The second rider, a juvenile on a 2007 Suzuki dirt bike, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and went to a local hospital.
