CENTER POINT, IA (May 02, 2026) – A 63-year-old Garber man, John Dedic, was critically injured Saturday evening in a UTV rollover crash in Center Point, according to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO).
Authorities reported that a Polaris UTV was traveling along North Center Point Road at approximately 7:30 p.m. when it overturned in a field for reasons currently under investigation.
Deputies said one passenger, identified as John Dedic, sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash. He was airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for emergency treatment.
The driver of the UTV, a 60-year-old man, was not injured. Following a preliminary investigation, authorities arrested the driver and charged him with operating while intoxicated, reckless driving, and serious injury by vehicle. A second passenger was also arrested at the scene and charged with operating while intoxicated.
The Linn County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
