CASTAIC, CA (March 11, 2026) — A 67-year-old bicyclist was killed Wednesday morning after being struck by a Santa Clarita Transit bus, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Hahn Truong, a resident of Castaic, was riding near Royal Road and Pinto Place at approximately 7:35 a.m. when the bus struck him. Truong was pronounced dead at the scene.
The CHP’s Newhall Area Office is actively investigating the crash to determine contributing factors.
The CHP continues to investigate the collision. Buses pose serious risks to bicyclists due to their size and limited driver visibility.
Factors that may contribute to such accidents include distracted or fatigued drivers, mechanical issues, driver error, and insufficient training. Operating a large bus is significantly more challenging than driving a car or SUV.
