Carolyn Cash Dies in Winston County Collision, Authorities Say

LYNN, AL, (October 11, 2025) – Police are investigating a fatal crash that claimed the life of a woman on Oct. 11 in Winston County.

Carolyn G. Cash, of Lynn, was critically injured in a two-vehicle collision on Alabama 195 near Winston County 32, about three miles north of Double Springs. Her 2002 Kia Sportage collided head-on with a 2021 Toyota Camry at approximately 4:50 p.m. on Oct. 8.

The driver of the Camry, a 17-year-old, was also injured and transported to a local hospital. Cash was airlifted to University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division continues to investigate the crash.


CRASH INVESTIGATION

In 2023, Alabama reported 975 traffic fatalities, with a crash occurring every 3 minutes and 38 seconds, and a fatality every 8 hours and 55 minutes, according to the Alabama Department of Transportation.

Common contributing factors in serious crashes include speeding, distracted driving, and impaired driving.

“Road conditions, visibility, and lighting are all possible contributing factors that must be carefully examined,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.
