Carlos Ninazunta dies after hit-and-run in Spring Valley, driver charged

RAMAPO, NY, (April 18, 2026) – A 30-year-old Spring Valley man was killed early Saturday morning in a hit-and-run incident in South Spring Valley, authorities said.

According to the Ramapo Police Department, Carlos Fabian Ayala Ninazunta was discovered at approximately 7:15 a.m. at 18 Park Avenue. Investigators determined that the parked pickup truck under which he was found was not involved in the collision.

Evidence collected at the scene indicated that Ninazunta had been struck by another vehicle during the early morning hours, then dragged and placed beneath the stationary truck.

Police identified 36-year-old Manuel Milton Yantalema Parco, also of Spring Valley, as the driver involved. He was located after officers reviewed surveillance footage and gathered physical evidence. His vehicle was later recovered in the Chestnut Ridge area.

Parco was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, concealment of a human corpse, and tampering with physical evidence. He is currently being held at the Rockland County Jail.

The Ramapo Police Department continues to investigate the case.

FATAL ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

In many hit-and-run cases, at-fault drivers attempt to evade responsibility by fleeing the scene, believing they can avoid consequences. However, once identified, suspects often face serious criminal charges.

Leaving the scene of an accident is a criminal offense, and statistics show that more than one hit-and-run crash occurs every minute across the United States.

Candice Bond, an experienced hit-and-run accident attorney, emphasized that it is crucial to initiate an independent investigation promptly to protect the rights of victims.

“Access to the right resources is essential in thoroughly investigating a hit-and-run case and establishing negligence,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal.

“Factors such as roadway conditions, visibility, and lighting must be carefully evaluated,” Bond added.

These investigative steps are critical in helping families who have lost loved ones in hit-and-run incidents pursue justice and obtain appropriate financial compensation.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family of Carlos Ninazunta may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim. Surviving family members can seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following such a tragic incident.

Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal, said, “The emotional toll after losing a loved one in an accident can be overwhelming for any family.”

She added, “We understand the challenges families face, and protecting their legal rights is essential. A wrongful death attorney can monitor the progress of the investigation and help ensure that the family’s best interests are fully represented.”
